The voice of the book is the Risas y Sonrisas CD-ROM, which is included as an integral part of the Risas y Sonrisas Individual Program. The CD-ROM's fun and engaging exercises are divided into the following four areas: Vocabulary, Songs, Questions and Answers, and Verb Conjugations.

Vocabulary

The CD-ROM includes 17 vocabulary units designed to teach students practical Spanish vocabulary, as well as proper pronunciation. These interactive and audiovisual exercises help students learn words at their own pace. When a student clicks on any image, they will hear the correct Spanish pronunciation spoken by a native speaker! These exercises are ideal for younger children as well because they can learn the words without having to read.

All of the vocabulary is color coded with pink for feminine words and blue for masculine words. This color coding is also used in the Student Book and in the Domino Game to reinforce this important aspect of Spanish grammar - noun gender.

Songs

The CD-ROM includes all of the lyrics to the songs found on the Music CD in a special interactive format. The CD-ROM not only allows you to see the lyrics, but you can play them one line or paragraph at a time.

The vocabulary in the songs is presented in the same order as in the vocabulary units in the book, so children can follow the pictures in their books while they listen to the songs.

Questions and Answers

Students can learn practical Spanish conversation skills and improve their vocabulary and pronunciation using the CD-ROM's 26 interactive Question and Answer activities. These activities allow them to read the conversations along with English translations and to hear the conversations spoken by native speakers. The Student Book has the same Questions and Answers but with some of the words underlined. As the student learns new vocabulary, these underlined words can be substituted with other words for unlimited conversational possibilities.

Verb Conjugation

Knowing the correct forms of verbs for the past, present and future tenses - is an important part of learning any language. The conjugation exercises on the CD-ROM are designed to teach both correct verb forms and personal pronouns (I, you, he, she, we, they). Students know which pronoun to choose when they want to speak in each tense because they are color-coded. The color is related to a traffic light where red is the present (where you are), yellow is the past (where you were) and green is the future (where you will be/where you are going).
