Children learn Spanish while having fun by using songs, a variety of games, movement, colorful visual aids and
practical conversation.
- Teach Spanish to elementary students in grades K-8 using the
same classroom program. Approximately 125 hours of classroom instruction.
- All materials to teach Spanish are provided and are designed
to reinforce and complement each other to create variety in the
presentations. There is less "prep-time" for teachers.
- Class presentations are fun and dynamic. They capture the attention
of children through their preferred learning style (visual, kinesthetic
or auditory.)
- The flexibility of the program allows instructors to adapt it
to different age groups or present vocabulary units according
to the school or the teacher's preference.
- American Sign Language can be incorporated into the songs in
the program to learn two languages at the same time.
The Risas y Sonrisas program may be used in a classroom as well as for individual students and small groups of home
school students.

The following items included in the Risas y Sonrisas programs can be purchased separately:
 |
The 140-page hardcover Student Book is a colorful visual presentation
of Pronunciation, Vocabulary and some grammar concepts such as Masculine
and Feminine, Pronouns and Verb Conjugations. For each Vocabulary
Unit there is a Song with lyrics, pictures in the same order as
the song, frequently used Q&A, and a Skit.
The book includes an Interactive CD-ROM and a Skits DVD. This audiovisual presentation helps students
learn at their own pace. Students can hear the correct Spanish pronunciation of everything included in the book
spoken by native speakers. Many of the exercises are appropriate for younger children as well because they
can look at pictures or songs and learn the words without having to read.
 |
The Interactive CD-ROM is the voice of the book. It is divided
into five areas: Pronunciation, Songs, Vocabulary, Q&A, and
Verb Conjugations.
|
 |
The Skits DVD incorporates vocabulary and Q&A learned in
each chapter. They are acted skits by native speakers with
subtitles to read and repeat by reversing and pausing whenever
necessary.

What better way to learn Spanish than by singing and signing the
songs included in the Risas y Sonrisas Program and learn two languages
at the same time. American Sign Language offers signs that are easy to relate to words. So children can connect words to hand signs and learn vocabulary faster.
The presentation is similar throughout the DVD. First the teacher makes the sign along with a picture for each
word in the song or vocabulary unit. Then she introduces the students to a frequently used question and
answer where they can substitute vocabulary. At the end of each chapter, a group of elementary students sing
and sign along with the song in the Music CD. A booklet with colorful song lyrics and the American Manual Alphabet
is included. These songs can also be rehearsed with the Student Book, the Music CD and the interactive
CD-ROM where song lyrics can be read and played one line or paragraph at a time.

The Risas y Sonrisas Songs to Learn Spanish CD includes 39 original
and entertaining songs designed to teach students Spanish vocabulary
and phrases.
Music has proven to be one of the most powerful tools for accelerating
and reinforcing learning of a foreign language. A booklet with colorful
song lyrics is included. These songs can also be rehearsed with
the Student Book, the Sign and Sing DVD and the interactive CD-ROM.
In the Student Book, the songs can be followed by looking at the
pictures. Also, the lyrics for the 39 songs are written in the book
with different colors to make them eye-catching and to emphasize
song paragraphs. In the interactive CD-ROM, students can even read
and play the song lyrics one line or paragraph at a time. The same
songs are presented in American Sign Language in the Sign and Sing
DVD.

Questions and Answers used to substitute vocabulary. The vocabulary
is divided into the following categories:
- Food
- Nature
- Family

The Flashcard Set can be used in the class or at home to reinforce
vocabulary, questions and answers and verb conjugations. It includes
12 domino sets with 24 tiles each, 90 Q&A of frequent use and
9 personal pronoun conjugation cards with verb words to practice.
The Domino Game is designed to teach students vocabulary
through simple matching of pictures to words. These pictures are
the same throughout the program and can be used as flashcards to
play other games or form picture sentences with the Mini Conjugation
Cards.
Ninety Question and Answer Cards are separated by different
colors according to the unit in which they were presented in the
book. On the left side is the question and on the right side is
the answer. They are folded in half and cut by color to open and
find the English translation inside.
Students can rehearse verb conjugations with the Mini Conjugation
Cards, which include endings for the present, past and future.
The verb word is inserted on the red, yellow or green side depending
if it is Hoy (today) Mañana
(tomorrow or future) or Ayer
(yesterday or past), and according to the color coded (ar,
er, ir) ending
where it belongs. They can be used with the Domino tiles to form
picture sentences.
